“Budownictwo i Architektura” is a quarterly journal operating on the principle of open access to publications (Open Access). From 2018, subsequent issues are published in March, June, September and December. Manuscripts should be sent to the following address: wb.bia@pollub.pl.
Manuscripts submitted for consideration should include previously unpublished material. The journal publishes in Polish, English and both languages (e.g. Polish manuscript and translation into English). The manuscript in Polish must contain the title, keywords and abstract in English.
The manuscripts are reviewed by two independent experts in the field designated by the editors. The magazine uses the principles of double-blind peer review, i.e. the author and reviewers do not know each other’s identities. At least one of the reviewers comes from outside the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture. If the author is an employee of the above-mentioned faculty, both reviewers are from outside this unit.
The only criterion for the selection of manuscripts is their scientific level. Preference is given to the most universal publications, written in English. In ethical matters, the journal follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) publishing ethics and applies the procedures included in the diagrams.
The journal’s printing procedure
The first step is to assess the conformity and suitability for publication in the journal made by the Editorial Board. The author is given feedback about the decision made. In the case of acceptance, the manuscript is forwarded for review. Each work is evaluated by not less than two independent reviewers. The magazine applies a legitimate double-blind peer review, i.e. the author and reviewers do not know each other’s identities.
For reviews:
- positive – the manuscript is passed to the commissioning Editor,
- negative – the editorial staff takes note of the comments and makes the decision to designate subsequent reviewers or to reject the author’s work,
- mixed – a third reviewer is appointed.
In the case of positive reviews that require corrections, the article is directed to the Author. The editors give the author the comments and suggestions of the reviewers. The author addresses the review. In the case of maintaining his position, he is obliged to provide the Editor with additional explanations. After the amendment has been introduced by the Author, the article is again sent to the Reviewer or accepted by the Editorial Office, depending on the number and complexity of the required corrections. The final version of the manuscript goes to the Editor. The necessary editorial corrections are introduced, and a linguistic correctness assessment is made. In the case of articles in Polish, the language assessment is: title, keywords and abstract in English. The editorial version is sent to the author for final correction and approval. The flow chart of the publication procedure is shown in Figure 1.
